- Rear Sprocket – 42
- Chain – 114 Links / 525 Pitch
One owner changed the rear sprocket to 38 tooth (stock is a 42 tooth). He said “Made a huge difference on my bike, better mpg, higher top speed, less stress on the engine at cruising speeds. You do lose a little low end power, but i cruise highways a lot.”
That is 9.5 %. That is a decent jump – my Rebel 500 sprocket change was 6.7%. With an accurate speedometer, 60 mph indicated would be 65.7 actual mph.
If your speedometer reads 1 mph high (common), 60 mph indicated would be 64.7 actual mph.
