300 Rebel mufflers recommended

For Rebel 300 muffler replacements, my only recommendation is a Rebel 500 muffler – the sound is deeper/richer than aftermarket 300 mufflers. For a deep sound, the Rebel 300 requires a “complicated” muffler with baffle plates and extra internal tubing like the stock muffler – a simple passthrough design is not good enough.

Sometimes it does sound like “just a single cylinder”, but if you accelerate around 4,000 or 5,000 rpm, it has a throaty sound a little like an old Triumph twin. You can hear it better if you lean your head to the right. (I’m not making this up – in parallel twins (360° crank), the pistons go up and down together, so it can sound somewhat like a single cylinder.) I notice this only with the stock unmodified 300 muffler or the 500 muffler.

(below) The Top Secret Rebel 300 muffler ranking.

35% Rebel 300 with 500 muffler…… 32% Rebel 300 with stock muffler . 28% Rebel 300 with aftermarket muffler 25% Rebel 300 with no muffler

“Tone” and “Loudness” are two different things – the stock unmodified Rebel 300 muffler and the Rebel 500 muffler have the best tone compared to other mufflers I tried. For the Rebel 300, I would use the 500 muffler even if I lived out in the country with no neighbors. Here are the mufflers I tried: 1). Rebel 300 stock muffler, 2). Rebel 300 muffler with exhaust tip removed, 3). Rebel 500 shortened muffler with a $15 Shorty GP baffle/catalyst in the muffler, 4). Rebel 500 shortened muffler (with and without Shorty baffle in header pipe; also with Shorty baffle plus an in-muffler baffle) 5).Black Widow BN35R muffler (with and without Shorty baffle in header pipe) 6).Rebel 500 muffler.

Acceptable: 1, 4C, 5A, 6. … Not acceptable: 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5B.

So here are my 2 cents as to what i feel after replacing my stock exhaust on Rebel 300.
i faced the same problem which everyone else complained about every slip on being too loud on Rebel 300 since the CAT is in the stock exhaust itself which gets removed when you remove stock exhaust.

Try 1:
I bought a radiant GP exhaust and as soon as i turned my bike on oi turned it off. its basically like you are just running pipes. returned it done deal.

Try 2:
bought a V&H Slip on for rebel 300. not so loud like shorty but stll pretty loud and above 50mph it becomes obnoxiously loud. i ride about 40 miles everyday so it was a NO NO for me.

Try 3: (this is what i am using right now)
Bought a M4 Performance exhaust all black for rebel 300. costed around $400 US.
Well first things first it SOUNDS AMAZING. it comes with stage 1 silencer installed probably that is helping.
make no mistake it is loud but exactly the kind of loud which i wanted. Deep Tone like people will notice you but not show you middle fingers for being extra loud. on high speeds as well its not obnoxiously loud but surrounding cars will know you are there.

Secondly i dont know its just me or others as well right above 55mph i used to feel my bike is vibrating. the handle bars the seat and tingling in foot but now that is gone.

Last but the not the least i feel increased acceleration at smaller gears and more throttle response.

TRY M4 PERFORMANCE EXHAUST YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!
