Maintenance – Fender Bolts

FENDER BOLTS

Break the thread lock loose BEFORE you try to remove the bolts.

To break the thread lock loose

· Heat the head of the bolt with a soldering iron to melt the thread lock

· Hit the head of the bolts with a hammer (first, cover the bolt with a piece of rubber or cloth so you don’t damage the bolt or the bike)

· Break the bolts loose with an impact driver

· Hit the Allen wrench (hex key) with a hammer to force a better fit into the bolt

· Turn the Allen wrench clockwise – this might help to break the thread lock loose

• If the Allen head is damaged, try a larger Torx/star bit and hammer it in. This worked for me recently.

You need a:  6mm metric Allen wrench (not U.S.)

fender bolts are: M8x1.25×18 part# 90108-K87-A00
