Handlebars & mirrors – Handlebars

• The 300/500 bars are one inch. Get the standard bars – not dimpled. (The dimpled bars are for Harley-Davidson.) You need to drill holes for the control’s locater pins – or just grind them off.

• 4 inch bars usually do not need longer cables. Some 5 inch bars need longer cables if the bars are tilted back.

• If you buy handlebars from Takumi’s World International, they include the longer cables, if needed. (You can message them – Dave Stephen Takumi is a member of this FB group)

• Biltwell Zed 5 inch bars – (per user) did not need longer cables.

• Biltwell Keystone – (per user) All cables fit well except for the front brake cable – it needs to be re-routed in front of the triple tree.

• Biltwell Keystone 5 inch bars – (per user) you need to get longer cables. If you tilt the bars forward, you don’t need longer cables.

• The stock handlebars have integrated weights (to help dampen vibration) with a solid bar end – so you’ll need to drill to install bar end mirrors or hand guards.

Hard to reach bars / needs closer reach to bars – Many people find the stock Rebel 300/500 seat uncomfortable and end up getting it reupholstered or buying a more comfortable seat such as Mustang. A Mustang seat adds 1 inch height and moves you forward 3/4 inch or 19mm – so that puts you a little closer to the bars. Or if you have your stock seat reupholstered, you can have them contour the seat so it moves you forward so, like the Mustang seat, you will be higher and closer to the bars.
