Rebel 1100 cruise control problems – possible causes: rear brake light switch needs adjusting – turns on brake light soon (this one is a common problem), some aftermarket front brake levers don’t work, low tire pressure, you have to be going faster than 30 mph (and in 4th gear or higher for manual model).
The OEM brake lever has a paddle (red arrow) that presses both the brake light switch and cruise cancel switch (blue arrows) in to open both circuits…when the lever is pulled the paddle releases the switches to close the circuits allowing the brake light to come on and the cruise control to cancel. If you have an aftermarket lever and it does not have that paddle your brake light will be on all the time and your cruise control will not work. Get a flashlight and inspect your lever in relation to the 2 switches.
Did you replace it with an aftermarket or OEM lever? A lot of aftermarket ones won’t work with the 1100 due to that reason.
You probably need to adjust your rear brake switch. Or you’re tapping the rear brake and not knowing it.
