300 500 Exhausts – Quiet exhausts

Quiet exhausts: Miller, M4, Arrow, Musarri w baffle, LexTech, Scorpion, LeoVince w baffle, TBR w baffle, Yoshimura $579.00. not sure: Pipe Werx, Termignoni … Many other mufflers such as Black Widow can be made just a little louder than stock by adding two or three baffles – this is fairly easy to do – the Shorty GP Baffle can be mounted in the header pipe (I did mine that way).

Prices shipped in US: Miller $590.85 from Germany, M4 $389.00, Arrow $540.00, Musarri w baffle $283.92 from AU (eBay), Black Widow $207.58 from UK, LexTech CP8C is too loud, check other models, Scorpion black ceramic $571.22 from UK, LeoVince w baffle $459.95, TBR w baffle $449.99 without baffle?, Yoshimura $579.00. not sure: Pipe Werx, Termignoni

These are about 98 dB – stock exhaust is 93 to 94 dB.

Several of these are approved for UK and EU.

OWNER COMMENT : To me, Leovince (classic Racer) sounds better than the Arrow. … Arrow with original baffle : Quieter than stock exhaust
Arrow with larger arrow baffle : Nice sound with a low bass frequency, trying to imitate a V-Twin
Arrow without baffle : Same sound but louder and a lot of pops and crackles, absolutely not legal in term of volume. …

Leovince with original baffle (52mm): Nice sound at low revs, too quiet after that, but legal.
Leovince with a generic 48mm baffle found on amazon : Better sound ever on my 500, more like a classic motorbike from Triumph I would say, and could be legal

Leovince without baffle : Barely same sound as a Vance and Hines and louder then Arrow without baffle. Like it but my neighbors won’t.

Some cars (such as VW GTI, Audi S3, BMW, Lexus, and Mustang GT) play the exhaust sound through the audio system so the driver can hear the engine sounds better.
If your motorcycle exhaust is too quiet for you, you could make a metal deflector that would go underneath the muffler outlet and reflect sound back to the rider, so the bike would seem louder to you.
