Exhausts – ..Dual exhausts

topic: Rebel 500 true dual exhausts

· My Rebel 500 and a Honda CB350 both have 180° crankshafts – yet the CB350 sounds better because it has dual exhausts. The Rebel 500 has two header pipes that go into one mixing chamber/catalytic converter which chokes the sound. Has anyone tried a 2-to-2 dual exhaust? (would probably need a retune)

· I have seen only one true dual exhaust for sale – made by ARC Racing. (The link that I had is not good now.)

BACKGROUND – The Rebel 500 has 180 ° crankshaft. “Old school” thinking says 180 ° crank requires twin exhausts. In the 1960’s, all Honda 180 ° crankshaft bikes had two sets of points, twin exhausts, and twin carbs (older Honda twins like CB350, CB360, original CB450, CB72 250 CB77 305) ….. Some of the Honda 360 ° crankshaft bikes had one set of points, twin exhausts, and one carb. (stamped metal frame Dream 250 and 305)

CB/CM/CMX400/450 all had a 360 degree crank – both pistons move together like an old British twin, unlike older Honda Twins, like the 350 and 360 and original 450 which are 180 degree
