Windshields – ..Rebel 500 Rifle fairing

I removed my Rifle Superbike fairing for the summer. I might try a smaller fairing to see if i can live with it. My windshield is 20.5 to 21 inches above the headlight. My windshield is about 26.5 inches above the lower edge of the headlight.

FAIRING – I added a used Rifle Superbike fairing. This fairing is larger and has better wind protection than a lot of the smaller, more stylish fairings that you see on bobbers. Pretty happy with it so far – it blocks the wind well. I think it is a great size for the Rebel 300/500. The fairing is narrow enough so that it does not block the front turn signals. I have been using the larger Rifle Sport fairings on other bikes for ten years.

The lower mounting – To mount the Rifle Superbike fairing on a Rebel 500, you need to buy two M8 x 1.25 x 35mm long bolts (Home Depot Model # 802258). The two lower fairing braces are bolted to the lower Rebel headlight bracket. Remove the two M8 x 1.25 x 20mm long bolts from the lower headlight bracket and replace them with two M8 x 1.25 x 35mm long bolts.

The upper mounting – The lower mounting seemed solid, so I did not use brackets for the upper mount. The top of the fairing is held tight by straps/bungee cords and rests on rubber pads attached to the fairing with heavy duty mounting tape. Having no solid upper mount might help reduce the vibration problem that is sometimes had with fairings.
