Exhausts – Shorty mufflers

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗮𝘂𝘀𝘁𝘀 can reduce the torque/ performance of the bike. If you want a shorty, for better performance and less noise I would buy a regular (42.5 ID) muffler that mounts to the header pipe like a shorty. Like a shorty, you do not need a brace.

If you connected a Shorty muffler to a mid-pipe, it might improve the low-end torque of the bike compared to the Shorty muffler alone. But most Shorty mufflers have a 43mm inlet (not 51mm like most mufflers) so you would also need a hard-to-find 43 mm OD to 51 mm ID reducer to connect the Shorty muffler to a mid-pipe.
