Some Rebel 1100 DCT owners have had low-speed garage/parking crashes when the bike is left in “drive” and they accidentally hit the throttle.
• One solution is to make a habit of never leaving it in drive when you are parking the bike.
• Another solution is to create a User Setting that reduces the throttle response at takeoff.
• With a manual bike, you control power and speed at slower speeds using the clutch. With a DCT, you do that with the foot brake. But when you are parked or stopped, sometimes you need both feet on the ground to balance the bike until you able to put the right foot up on the foot peg. If a User Setting doesn’t help resolve that, you might consider adding the rear brake to the left grip – see the africa twin forum. If you do that, I would suggest using the rear hand brake only for low speeds/parking and use the foot brake for all other driving.

With no clutch to modulate, low-speed parking lot maneuvers require making sure the trainee is also well acquainted with how to drag the rear brake to maintain balance.”
