These fairings are larger and have better wind protection than a lot of the smaller, more stylish Puig and Dart flyscreens that you see on bobbers. They are better for cold, windy climates.

Putting the 1100 Batwing on the Rebel 500 – “Yes the 1100 wind screen fits on the 500…. somewhat. There is 3 different anchor points on the 1100, two of which is possible on the 500. Turns out, this is more than sufficient to firmly anchor the fairing. As previously mentioned in a different post, the Stay is over engineered. The bottom of the Stay screws into the headlight mount as does the 1100. The 2 prongs and bushings also fit under the top bridge as designed. Where things go off the rails is the top mounting point (info center mount). As it turns out the Stay is plenty secure already without this last mounting point. I took a chance purchasing this item but it’s a win in my book. If you are somewhat handy this is quite a doable mod for the 500.”

• The Rifle Superbike Fairing is a great choice for smaller bikes. It is 5 lbs, 19 inches wide, and has a 15 or 18 inch windshield.
• The Rifle Sport Fairing (pictured below) has more wind protection than the Superbike Fairing. It is 8 lbs, 24 inches wide, and has a 15, 18, or 21 inch windshield. It also has built-in turn signals/running lights (1157 bulb).

Fairing from Zeed Parts (above)
•If your fairing covers your stock turn signals, you can loosen the 5mm bolt and slide them down. You might need to remove the TS wiring from the clip.

Rifle Sport Fairing – wiring:
Red – turn signal — Black – running light — White – ground
The Rifle Sport fairing has a short lead from each light with a small plastic male connector. If you don’t have the female connector and wiring that is to be wired to the bike, they are available from Rifle.

Drink holder
The Rifle Sport fairing has two cubby-holes that can be used as a drink holder – just crush the bottom 2 or 3 inches of a 20 ounce plastic bottle and it fits pretty good. Move any wiring to the front of the cubby hole so putting a bottle there won’t disturb anything.
OLDER OR LESS COMMON FAIRINGS
• The Rifle Nightflight Fairing is a quarter fairing – it only keeps wind off your midsection. If you want to buy one of these, it would be good if you could try it first. It is 3 lbs, 14 inches wide, and has a 11 or 14 inch windshield. The one that I owned (photo below) had a 11 inch windshield – if you had the 14 inch windshield and are not too tall, it might keep some (or all) of the wind off your helmet.

• Vetter Windjammer fairing
A few years ago, I had a Vetter Windjammer (Vindicator) fairing on my 1981 Honda CM400C.
The total weight was 23.4 lbs
(mounting bracket 3.7 lbs, fairing 19.7 lbs without the two compartment covers)
The Vetter has more wind protection and offers a quieter, more comfortable ride compared to the smaller Rifle Sport Fairing.
The Vetter mounts to the frame (as opposed to the handlebars) so it is more stable and handles winds better than the Rifle fairings.

• Slipstreamer CF-40 Universal Windshield 7/8” Clear
I had this windshield on my other bike for a short while – but I wanted more wind protection so I put a Rifle Sport fairing on that bike, too.
Slipstreamer CF-40
23″ tall overall.
20 1/2″ tall from the headlight cutout to the top of the shield.
16″ wide.

(• Slipstreamer CF-30 is 15 3/4″ tall overall — 14″ wide — 3/16″ thick)

WINDSHIELDS /FAIRINGS — height above the headlight
1) Basically, a windshield 15 inches above the headlight is sort of small, 17 inches is medium, and 20 inches is large.
I had a little Rifle Nightflite fairing once, it had the stock 11 inch windshield (height from headlight about 13 inches) – and it would only keep the wind off your chest.
2) To clarify, this refers to the height of the windshield itself, when mounted very close to the headlight. If a windshield that is 15 inches high is mounted with a 3 inch gap above the headlight, then it will measure 18 inches to the top of the windshield, but the “height of the windshield above the headlight” is still considered to be 15 inches.
3) I had this windshield on a 2002 Virago 250: a Slipstreamer CF-40 20″H x 17″W – I am tall, otherwise I could have gotten a shorter one. I like it a lot. I was getting a strong updraft below the windshield so I made a plastic diffuser that helps a lot. A fairing (like the Rifle Sport Fairing or Superbike Fairing) would be better, but I am not sure about how it would affect the looks of a cruiser.
4) Due to the updraft from below the windshield, I have since changed to a Rifle Sport fairing. The Rifle Superbike fairing is really a better choice for the xv250 (it’s light and smaller than the Sport fairing), but the Sport fairing seems easier to find on the used market.
thanks for the tips, any tips for front fenders like on Harley Davidson.
I goggled it and there are many front fenders for the Rebel 300/500. They are mostly bobber-style – I did not see any with trim added like some Harleys have.
Thanks,
Les S.

Is there any different speedometers for the 2019 rebel something with gear and tach included
Hi George, No – a speedometer including gear indicator and tach is not available. You can add the gear indicator (fairly easy). You can also add a tach (medium difficulty) – see page 3 of this site for instructions.
Thanks for the question.
